PRICING

Nothing to pay.

Free during beta. The core is open source and self-hostable, free forever. Paid team plans for the managed service come later, and beta teams keep founder pricing.

Self-hosted

Free forever

The complete server is open source. Run it on your own storage.

Self-hosting guide
  • The whole product, not a stripped-down core
  • One Go binary and a bucket or a folder
  • S3, GCS, R2, MinIO or plain disk
  • Free forever, whatever we decide about the managed service

We do not meter your storage and we are not going to surprise you. If usage looks unusual we will reach out before changing anything.

Questions we get

What does BearDrive cost right now?

Nothing. BearDrive is in beta and the managed service is free. We do not ask for payment details anywhere, and there is nothing to cancel.

Does the free beta turn into a bill?

No. A trial is a clock running down to a charge, and this is not one. The product is free while we learn what teams actually do with it, and the open source core stays free and self-hostable no matter what we decide about the managed service.

When does the beta end?

We have not set a date and we are not going to invent one. When we start charging for the managed service we will say so well in advance, and teams already on it keep founder pricing.

What will you charge for later?

The managed service, priced per team. The open source core is not going behind a paywall. We have not settled on a number, so we are not going to print one here.

Can I move from the managed service to self-hosting later?

Yes, any time, and you do not need our permission or our help. One command, bdrive export, pulls a whole project out of the managed hub into a single archive: every version of every file, every device's history, and who wrote what. Then bdrive import loads that archive into a hub you run, and your team points their folders at the new address. It works in both directions and against any hub, so you can move back just as easily.

What happens to my files if I stop using the managed service?

You take them. Every file is a real file sitting in a real folder on your own machine, so you already have the current version even if our server disappears. The export above is how you take the history with it. That is true today and it is not a beta perk.

Is history really kept forever?

Yes. Every version of every file is retained, and restoring one is a click. Time travel is not a paid tier here.

Can I just run it myself?

Yes. The whole server is open source under AGPL-3.0, and self-hosting is free forever, on your own storage. The managed service is for teams who would rather not run a server and a bucket.

Start now, decide later.

Point your agent at a folder and see whether your team's agents get smarter for it. That is the whole ask. Nothing is billed, and nothing is going to be during the beta.
